Why should I buy from The Backyard & Beyond?

Choosing the right builder matters. At The Backyard & Beyond, we stand out because:

  • We’ve taken pride in the workmanship of our buildings since 2015, always focusing on improving quality rather than cutting corners.
  • Every building comes with a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty against leaking or structural defects. If something goes wrong, we’ll repair, replace, or refund as needed.
  • We hand-pick our lumber for quality and appearance, ensuring a better finished product.
  • Our buildings are constructed on 2×6 treated floor joists for strength and durability.
  • All of our buildings are finished with rodent-proof trim for extra protection.
How far do you deliver?

We offer FREE delivery to the entire state of Missouri. We also deliver to neighboring states for an additional fee based on the size of the building. Please call or email for an estimate.

Do you need permits to deliver your buildings?

Yes. Permits are required for buildings over 8 ft. wide:

  • 8 ft. to 12 ft. 4 in. wide: Covered by an annual blanket permit.
  • 12 ft. 4 in. to 16 ft. wide: Requires a single-trip permit with a state-assigned route.
  • Over 13 ft. 6 in. tall (when loaded): Requires a special permit.

Do I need a permit to place a shed or portable building on my property?

Permit requirements vary depending on your city or county. Many municipalities in Missouri require permits for permanent or semi-permanent structures, especially larger buildings. We recommend checking with your local zoning or building office before purchasing to avoid surprises.

How do you get the building from your shop to my location?

We use a special trailer designed to haul our portable storage buildings.

Will it cause damage to my yard when you deliver my building?

To ensure smooth delivery, please:

  • Clear tree limbs and obstructions to allow building access.
  • Prepare a level site — a 6-inch gravel pad is strongly recommended for stability and drainage.
  • Extend gravel past the edges of the building to reduce mud and splashing.
  • Notify us if your site is more than 12 inches out of level so we can bring extra blocks.
  • We allow one hour from arrival to leveling. Extra setup charges may apply if the site isn’t ready.

Tip: We offer a 2% discount for sites that are level and easily accessible with concrete, piers, or gravel.

What are the benefits of portable storage barns vs. stationary barns?

Portable storage barns provide flexibility and value:

  • They add value to your property.
  • They are typically quicker to obtain than permanent structures.
  • They can move with you if you relocate, or be resold if no longer needed.
  • All buildings include a key-locked door handle for security.
Do you use metal roofing and siding on all your buildings?

We typically use metal for its strength and low maintenance. However, we also offer wood or vinyl siding and shingle roofing. These options are higher priced and require more maintenance.

Do you use screws or nails in the construction of your buildings?

We use both:

  • Nails for wood framing.
  • Color-matched screws for metal roofing and siding.
  • Galvanized nails for treated wood.
  • Ring shank or spiral shank nails to prevent pull-out.
What color options are available?

We offer 23 metal colors for sidewalls, roofing, and trim. You can mix and match at no extra charge.

Can I add a cupola to my shed or barn roof?

Yes. Cupolas are available as an optional accessory.
